The China expresses concern about EU's "double anti" steel products

2023-10-21

The Ministry of Commerce stated that China is concerned about the ongoing steel import trade restrictions implemented by the European Union and will closely monitor the EU's future actions.

Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong stated that the EU has implemented a series of restrictive measures, including maintaining high tariffs for several consecutive years and implementing over 60 anti-dumping and countervailing measures against steel products originating from multiple countries and regions.

Therefore, the EU steel market has become one of the global markets with numerous trade barriers and rising product prices, he said at the weekly press conference held in Beijing.

This business official stated that the EU's actions have disrupted the international trade order, increased downstream production costs, harmed consumer interests, and did not contribute to the stability of the global industrial and supply chains.

These measures are also not conducive to the long-term development of domestic industries or the healthy operation of the EU market. China has always advocated for the rational and prudent use of trade remedies, and firmly opposes unilateralism and protectionism that abuse trade remedies.
